Student-Programs Ignited for Community Engagement & Education (SPICEE) Overnight Program
The SPICEE Overnight Program was founded in 2002 by a group of diverse students who saw a need to increase the enrollment of underrepresented and underserved students in higher education. Originally serving a limited number of local students, the program has steadily grown to serve students throughout California.
Today, the SPICEE Overnight Program continues to offer participants with experiences rooted in social justice, student empowerment, and multiculturalism. The SPICEE Overnight Program has also partnered with the Black Resource Center, Jacobs School of Engineering, LGBT Resource Center, and Raza Resource Centro to offer activities and workshops that are culturally relevant and academically based.
The SPICEE (pronounced like “spicy”) Overnight Program offers participants a variety of activities encompassing student life at UC San Diego and opportunities to connect with undergraduate students, alumni, and staff. Participants will be able to attend various workshops, campus tours, informational sessions, social events, and activities organized by the staff of SPACES, LGBT Resource Center, and Raza Resource Centro.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with students involved in the Asian & Pacific-Islander Student Alliance (APSA), Kaibigang Pilipin@ (KP), Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan (MEChA), Native American Student Alliance (NASA), and Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC).
For more information about the SPICEE Overnight Program, please e-mail: spacesovernight@ucsd.edu or call 858-239-9246.

Unfortunately, parents and families will not be able to participate in the Overnight Program, as this program is limited to invited UC San Diego admitted students only.
Participants will potentially have the opportunity to visit real online classes, listen in on student panels, and be directed to departments to ask specific questions. A campus virtual tour, workshops, virtual activities will be provided. Participants will also be interacting with various campus resources such as student organizations, community centers, academic departments, and other student services.

SPACES has partnered with the Jacobs School of Engineering’s IDEA Student Center to offer tracks of the program that connect Overnight participants with members of the Engineering community. This track coincides with the SPICEE track of the Overnight Program, which will provide a variety of activities that encompass student life at UC San Diego and offer students to have the opportunity to connect with current undergraduate students, alumni, and staff. The SPICEE Overnight is coordinated by SPACES and is the longest-running Overnight Program at UC San Diego.
Both tracks of the Overnight Program will occur at the same time and will have joint activities throughout the week.
