How long is the College Tour?

The College Tour is a 2-day, 1-night program. The program will start at 4:00pm on Friday, January 15th, 2015 and end at 8:00pm on Sunday, January 17th, 2015.

Is there a fee to participate in the College Tour?

This program is offered to you at no cost! Throughout the program, costs for transportation and accommodations will be covered by SPACES. However, we will not be able to provide all meals. Students are advised to bring enough money to purchase lunch and dinner, along with any souvenirs or snacks they may wish to purchase during the tour.

Who is the College Tour for? Can my parents participate?

This program is limited to students ages 14-18 in San Diego who are not currently enrolled in a 4-year University. Unfortunately parents and families will not be able to participate in the College Tour as the program is designed strictly for students looking to enter a 4-year University.

What type of activities will be planned?

Participants will have the opportunity to visit seven college campuses, including UC’s, CSU’s, and private colleges. Sight-seeing activities, academic workshops and group building activities will be included as well to ensure a fun, exciting and, informational time.



Who is eligible for the College Tour?

This program is limited to students ages 14-18 in San Diego, that are not currently enrolled in a 4-year University. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate a limited number of participants, thus the program is designed specifically for students who meet this criteria.

How do I apply to participate in the program?

You must complete the online application in order to be considered for the College Tour Program.

When is the last day to submit the application?

The deadline for consideration is 11:59pm on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Applications submitted after this deadline may be taken into consideration if space is still available. It is highly recommended that applications be submitted as soon as possible, since spaces will fill up quickly!

Upon submission of my application, am I guaranteed as a participant of the program?

No. Upon review of your application, we will send you a confirmation e-mail by November 20th, 2015 indicating whether or not we are able to accommodate you into the program. If you have been accepted into the program or placed on the waitlist, you will need to fax the (3) following documents to confirm your participation to SPACES at (858)534- 7204 no later than 4pm on January 23rd:

An official document with a date of birth to verify your age

Failure to submit your forms by the deadline will result in the loss of your space in the program.

If I was placed on a waitlist, when should I expect to find out if I was accepted into the program?

A certain number of students will be placed on the waitlist. Should any spaces open up in between November 20th and November 30th, we will notify you immediately if we are able to accommodate you. Please send in the (3) required documents listed above, to confirm your spot on the waitlist.
How will I know that I have been accepted into the College Tour?

You will receive an email regarding the status of your application. If you have not received an email confirmation by 11:59pm on Friday, January 20th, please call (858)534-7330 to obtain the status of your application.
I do not have access to a fax machine. How else can I submit my parent/guardian release form?

Where will I be staying?
College Tour participants will be staying within a designated hotel. Each suite will be overseen by a SPACES Staff Member.

Will you be providing transportation? 

We will be providing transportation between the colleges. However, the participant is expected to provide their own rides to and from UC San Diego on the departure/arrival dates.
Will meals be provided?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide all meals at no cost to the student. Breakfast for each day will be provided. However, students will be expected to pay for lunch and dinner of each day. It is recommended that students bring at least $30 ($10 x 3 meals).
Do we have to stay at the program the entire time?

Your decision to participate in the College Tour implies that you will be available to participate for the entire duration of the program. This is a rare opportunity to participate in a program such as this given to only a select number of students. You will be expected to participate in all activities and thus, we will not accept students who cannot commit to the full 2 days of the program.
